日子一天一天过, 阮也一日一日老
time off from studying,
past few weeks had been spent studying and studying.
ah KiaT only went for CF, MM and will go for this saturday MSM Prelim.
its time to pull up the socks higher than Roberto Di Matteo

the former Italian who had the media once calling him as the soccer player with the highest socks!
ah KiaT's been involved in the previous 2009 Modern Living exhibition, being a pole system wardrobe design consultant in his friend's company OPSH. Despite the recession, you can still see people spending around.
Modern Living is located at the same venue as the NATAS fair, and it was really 人山人海, despite the economy.
ah KiaT learnt skills at the exhibition, which is indeed a harsh society with many competitors around. Together with ah Chua & Kwek, they formed the PTI team, which at the last day of the fair, snatched 1 customer, who is at the brink of signing a contract, away from their competitor because the customer was our regular RT man.
Exhibition is fun!
ah KiaT clinched a couple of sales there, and had many leads to follow up!
ah Chua has since become a perm staff there, while ah KiaT shall happily remain as a support.
those skills & experiences learnt during the PTI days certainly build up to our character and personality skills today.
and ah KiaT certainly don't say endure & excel for nothing.
but sadly speaking,
he wonders how come that sentence doesn't seem to translate into academic matters.
Sometimes, ah KiaT's friends may asked him,
"如果新加坡大战,你们这些PTI会做什么?"
Frankly speaking,
we are army trained and we can fight at the warfront, bash the jungles, even in our PT Kit!

Though ah KiaT can't cook for nuts, but got heart sure will succeed!

he cooked pasta with the help from seeks,
those 4 hands suddenly become like 7 hands 8 legs,
make a tidy mess out of the kitchen.
what is tidy mess?
it means a mess that looks tidy!

and even ah KiaT's sister throw away a 老字号 Al-Ammen Magi Goreng, and eat her brother's Pasta Linguine with dunno what sauce.

the new car is here!
and its fantastic really.
Korean technology is really catching up on the Japanese.
gone were the days of bad review of those Matrix.
ah Kiat just went for the 1st 1000Km servicing on wed.
the car look big, had a european feel.
handling is good, steering is light, higher torque horse power, spacious interior and boot, engine is similar to Toyota VVTI, fuel consumption is said to be at an average of 14.5km/l though its still hard to tell now as the car is still running in.
however, it still lack some devices like the seat-belt indicator, sound signal on when u left the lights on accidentally.
otherwise, its a great car!
its automatic transmittion, and ah KiaT really miss the manual gears, the sound of those engine!
so what car is it?

and hence donated the old one to her much poorer brother.

before going to the airport later to fetch his parents.

is it right to use the word fetch?
as ah KiaT recalled in his primary school days that a enguish teacher once said fetch is used for non-living things like goods.

compared to a year ago, when he really frequent the gym.
its been more than 3 months since ah KiaT last gym and swim,
and 偏偏 today rain argh.

my mouth, my language, my rant
很累了.
一直觉得没时间了,
到了一把年纪, 还不知前途如何?
考试要到了,
阿吉心情就如那首歌一样,
[我好想好想飞
逃离这个疯狂世界]
嗨.
真的不想读了,
有不行了.
城市煤气的工也快要到一段落了.
写到这里,
还是用阿吉拿手的英文来写,
华文太难了.
and here it goes,
well its all about comfort zone.
ah KiaT is still in his comfort zone,
not willing to venture out into the unknown world,
still comfortably working at that company,
with the comfortableness of those familiar faces,
sacrificing the opportunity of earning more elsewhere.
ah KiaT is still in his comfort zone,
not willing to try out new things.
he could have try out coaching or teaching piano as another career.
as the saying goes,
趁年轻,就要拼.
as for now,
its study first.
on monday 090209,
there was a PTI retreat at aloha loyang,
the venue that ah KiaT is so familiar with,
having attended 3 FOC camps there!
Seeing those familiar faces back in the PTI family,
the gathering was fun.
Experiences in working life was shared and we caught up with what each other are doing recently.
Their careers in the army now is in a precarious stage, as seriously, 政府工is a game for scholars. Normal people like you and me, be it work 10% or 100%, still wait for the same pay come 10th every month.
and talking about the $10million toto,
haha,
不是你的就不是你的.
ah KiaT bought his share of toto,
and when his colleagues all share $10 each, they leave out the part-timers as they say students 没钱,不要乱乱花.
so, having bought a fair share of toto, ah KiaT did not join in this pool.
and guess what,
YES,
they got a total of 5 numbers correctly, which gave them a instant return of 1500%.
and guess what,
they use a portion of their winnings to invest in yesterday draw,
and out come 4 numbers,
and got their returns again.
haha,
so they invest abit in thursday draw,
and like the hokkien saying goes,
无三不成礼,
hope they strike it 3 times in a row!
speaking of ah KiaT,
not so lucky, so have to work hard.
Shall start training now, for IPPT.
Cannot get silver again, else go back ICT sure will tio mara.
still on the fitness topic,
dear friend ben signed up for ultra marathon!
its always great to find people with interest in fitness, be it running in marathon or doing jog like 2km run.
its not the distance that matters, rather is the attitude that you have.
and ben also asked ah KiaT to email to the organiser if they allow ah KiaT to switch event.
and ah KiaT shall email soon,
however with that infamous patella problem of his.
lets see how.

after doing some calculations,
its more worth it to actually change a new car now, as OMV will drop further down the years and you only pay that certain amount to drive a new car for another 10 years.

off goes the manual XLI,
and in comes the automatic new car.
well, all cars now are automatic.
okie, ah KiaT's dad not getting Corolla Altis though,
that new model really have its flaws.
so its Hydunai Avante S.

its always about money and money and more money.
ah KiaT's CPF statement just came,
and at his elderly age,
that amount there simply doesn't justify.
thinking back,
it always seem that ah KiaT always take a long long route for everything.
Could it have been better if he started work and study parttime?
Could it have been better if he stick to Accounting?
it's definitely better that ah KiaT didn't sign on as a PTI then,
look now,
PTI is slowly being phrased out in the army,
and some of my friends are heading nowhere.
a Air Steward perhaps?
its February,
and exams are near, really near.
is UOL exams really tough or its simply down to the fact ah KiaT is lazy and not-so-smart?
alot of questions being asked,
but where's the answer.
and yet the author is not spending his time well now.
The job industry is real bad now,
and look at the financial industry now,
how on earth can one land a job come june.
arrgh!
Money money money.
yes, for once ah KiaT is greedy!
No investment now,
only way is to use his disposable income to invest in his fortnightly 4D & Toto.
Note: its really disposable income.
do not use future money to buy/invest,
you may 烧到屁骨.

its another sunday afternoon at home,
resting, copying notes,
before its time to give 5189 another bath,
and get ready for the family dinner.
recently,
ah KiaT bought quite a substantial amount of 4D number,
and the toto draw on 6 Feb.
no buy no hope,
got buy got hope...
anyway just for fun sake.
at home,
its still the discussion of putting a new road bike at home,
which is stalling.
okie that all for today,

all rite,
just finished another class of the week,
and ah KiaT is in the library doing some miscellaneous stuff.
its another 2 more days to CNY,
and ah KiaT wishes everyone an enjoyable holiday.
as the new year draw close,
there are still alot of things yet to be done.
the spring cleaning of the always-untidy ah KiaT's room.
it seems physically challenged to actually tidy ah KiaT's room,
as there seem to have endless things to pack.
being a full-time student,
this holidays may be a studying period.
YES, 5 modules and indeed its not easy.
especially with the prospect of facing that do or die unit.
never in life have ah KiaT been in that position before,
and really, there's no other way out.
lasto chance, period.
as mentioned before,
ah KiaT is forgoing the chance of participating in this year biathlon.
though it may seem like excuses,
but ah KiaT can't deny that having to work definitely takes away time from other activities.
just like the pool = 1,
when there's another variable w coming in,
the remaining pool will have to be 1 - w.
having to work means spending less time in school,
means seeing my friends lesser,
spending time with them lesser,
relationship with them will drift slightly,
involvement in council activities has drop,
no time to use the free gym in school,
lesser time to swim at Safra Yishun,
lesser time for studying in library,
lesser time for jogging.
though the perks of working are still there,
but then again,
looking back, i
s it a case of poor time management or simply cause as the saying goes, there is only this limited amount of time?
ah KiaT doesn't know.

ah KiaT had sign up for the sundown marathon, and he will be joining the Standard Chartered Marathon at the end of the year.
ah KiaT's goal is 1 marathon a year,
and this sundown marathon is purely because of running a new route and that finisher tee.
dun think ah KiaT will run the adidas sundown marathon again, unless with friends or other reasons.
friends had told ah KiaT that last year race was poorly organised, with few water points around and only water, so hopefully this year will be slightly better.
was recalling what ah Chua said during that time,
when we grow old, and one day we will flip through all the number bibs that we had collected,
we will recall the journey that we had been through those runs..

and the desire to get them is getting greater.

its been a long while
since ah KiaT last blogged,
due to the fact that his computer is down....
he can only surf net through his state-of-the art PDA phone, the HTC Touch.
its january 2009,
which means 4 more months to exam.
well.
haha who still read this blog?
make some noise!!!!
anw, alot had happen this month,
ah KiaT decided not to take part in the biathlon,
due to the fact of lack of preparation.
and of course swimming in the sea needs training too.
and most likely ah KiaT wants to run in the adidas sundown marathon,
for the simple reason of
THE FINISHER TEE!!!
it is indeed more nicer than the standard chartered one.
haha.
my heart says 84KM, but its easier said than done.
ah KiaT's sister bought the august Mayday concert tickets already, and it's just so coincident that the concert falls within ah KiaT's high key ICT window.
arrgh.
but it shouldnt be any problem, hopefully.
suddenly feel laggin behind alot in studies,
gotta pull up my socks.
and and and,
ah KiaT been on a massive spending spree.
spent alot recently,
though its on neccessities.
but must save for rainy days too.
and when someone is poor,
its time to get money from the government.
when is the angbao coming?
and ah KiaT is going to take IPPT.
this time should be ok,
with the help of my polar trainer.
haha.
met up with a fellow PTI today while working,
who dun believe ah KiaT can't clock a gold timing run now.
haha
really drop juice.
must regain those levels.
SRC coming to an end.
its kinda relieved and sad,
sad to leave everything behind,
and relieved cause ah KiaT can finally have time for his own other stuffs!

shall solve my computer problems before my regular post starts to come.

the 3rd attempt
is all about fun, endurance & pain.
talking about pain,
during ah KiaT PTI days, he recalled his instructor saying
"u must enjoy the pain..."
well all thanks to buddy donovan,
we broken our target today.
we came in at around 4.59.59 and 5 hrs flat,
so benefit of doubt, say 4.59.59hrs
hahaha.
it couldnt be possible if donovan didnt push ah KiaT for the remaining 6Km,
when all the lower limb muscle was numb and in pain.
his 仙丹 can only last about 1km before the pain comes back again.
but it was a great run,
ah KiaT practically ran throughout,
apart from using the 4 pit-stop strategy.
haha, say as if its in F1 racing.
the 2nd marathon was basically a run/walkathon,
the 1st was an experience,
but this run was really great!
the mental block at East Coast wasnt really there today,
and for once, ah KiaT quite enjoy that stretch, apart from some cramps here and there...
but 1 thing negative about this new route is the numerous U-turn.
ah KiaT hates U turn,
its like u never seem to see the point of u turn no matter how long u run.
this year run was really completed more with mental strength.
ah KiaT, once again as lazy and a procrastinator,
only trained afew times for this, and longest distance clocked just before the run was below 10km.
but really, 不认老都不行,
the recovery period is getting longer.
安哥 KiaT is still limping.
hopefully it will be okie by monday!

anyway this is the best run among the 3 attempts,
and somemore the finisher tee is nicer this year!

anw, his company maybe signing contract to officially coach SIM Track & Field club.

this run was accompanied by RS200, without the heart rate monitor la.
anw, my new buy is great.
like those polar watches ah KiaT wore in army,
this watch can program ur own training program and monitor the heart rate.
and ah KiaT spent the whole evening measuring his VO2 max, which means the maximum oxygen consumption that one can intake.
but shouldnt measure today as ah KiaT just completed a physical activity,
but nonetheless, the reading is 39, which is only of a fair level.
NOT FIT, hiak hiak.
haha,
guess which colour ah KiaT bought?

run and more run
its december already!
1 more day to Standard Chartered Singapore Marathon 2008.
and this is ah KiaT's 3rd marathon.
and wow,
to think then,
when ah KiaT finally fufilled his goal of completing a marathon.
its been 3 years!
same thing,
this year ah KiaT gonna run with buddy donovan.
this year route slightly changed.
no more marina south, but enter the new route of crossing the singapore flyer as well as the F1 pit lane.
this time round, 14km will reach east coast, and 28km will exit east coast.
which looks good, as ah KiaT always have mental block at this stretch, so its better to face it early.
the previous 2 runs brought different feelings and achievements for ah KiaT, and he believe this run will bring something different!
there's 50,000 participants this year!

ah KiaT decided to get his polar sports watch!
somemore its ah KiaT former PTI course commander, monkey god who is selling it!!!!
its been on the back of his mind for sometime,
and come thursday, he had a chance to buy it,
and he struggled to leave expo without buying it,
most thanks for seeks' advise against buying it.
but they say 女生变化莫测,
and when ah KiaT reached home,
those against sort of become for.
well,
its a guy thing la.
its investment.
there goes a big part of my tiny piggy bank.
but ok, i spent on myself,
i will have a minimum rate of reserve for you okie?
anyway,

ah KiaT gonna sign up for adidas sundown marathon.
its on 300509.
a different experience running at night.
but of course its 42.195km.
will NOT run the 84km definitely.
that takes alot of challenge, and mental + physical preparation.
and of course the march singapore biathlon.
registration had started, missed the early bird,
so shall take my time to register.
aviva triathlon shall wait,
until ah KiaT tried osim triathlon,
which shall wait until ah KiaT gets a proper road bike,

生活中点点滴滴的小事
time realyl flies.
last week of Novmember.
school revision has been going on a slow snail pace,
which doesn't reflect well.
but sometimes why ah KiaT wun follow the objectives he set previously.
haiz,
4 hours spent watching 4 soccer games.
caught the 3 matches at 11pm simultaneously,
and the last game which involves Manchester United.
well as expected,
after international duty,
all BIG 4 teams usually dont play well.
2 more weeks to Standard Chartered,
haven been running for past 1 wk.
well, hope to have another fun run this year.
Last year was really a disaster as per compared to 2006.
this year goodie bag collection is at EXPO!!!!!
ah KiaT dread that place, per se.
after the run,
shall resume my gym training!
alot of people say ah KiaT contracted!!!
shall hit the gym for more strength training.
i need more protein...
but ah KiaT went california with seeks last week.
it was quite a pleasant and unpleasant experience.
the staff inside were all well dressed.
filling up questionare and forms are always used with a Mont Blanc pen.

hoping to learn bits and pieces along the way.

ah KiaT couldnt join them for lunch as he need to work.

just finished challenge shield today.
really, it was relief.

tomorrow soccer again.
it's fun, playing soccer and catching up with friends again,
though for past few sessions,
ah KiaT couldnt join them for lunch as he need to work.
shall play this week before taking off for the next 2 weeks,

the 7th of November.
出生在一个华人家族里,
today, 华人十月初十, the 7th of November enguish calendar,
happens to be the 补东 day.
补东 = po dang.
it means in the past,
古人辛苦的耕牛耕田,
this 补东 day is the only day when they eat nutrition, eat protein and carbohydrates.
hence they got more energy to work for the next whole year.
now question,
1) why cant they 补东 at any time for the year? why must have specific day?

our new work venue is great,
the decor is fantastic,
with the kitchen decor display.
wow,
imagine having a house of ur own,
fully in charge of designing it,
satisfy with the outlook and the decor....
which is the reason why ah KiaT agreed to be part of Kwek's sales team for his OPSH walk in wardrobe system.
Together with ah Chua, the PTI team will use their 口才 to recommend these home design open concept system to customers.
to put it simply,
ah KiaT gonna learn some basic trade of furniture, mostly more in depth into walk in wardrobe and shelf system.
and perhaps help out in Kwek's company in the next IT fair.
well, come to a age whereby u simply have to learn more things.
ah KiaT wish to learn more about investment, home decor, estate sales and car matters....
those law and knowledge surrounding these issues.
our future life revolve around these.
House ah, Car ah, money ah...
its better to know more knowledge about these....
next friday,
1st stop.
resume and cover letter workshop.
hope to learn something new,
and hopefully 1st resume will be sent out.
and come july 09,
work is on the way.....
and ah KiaT wish to relax at bangkok or 哪里也好 before that with U!!!!

the petrol price is still going down,
ah KiaT top up 98 petrol.
actually 95 is sufficient already,
but after months of try,
this is concluded.
u top up a stronger petrol,
though its abit more expensive,
but its strong and good for the engine,
and then the fuel consumption is slightly better.
try it,
it may be true as ah KiaT tried it.
its afew dollars more expensive,
but its good for the engine,
and fuel consumption increased to about average 15km/L.

公婆念
the 安哥 generation always pronounce complain as kom-po-lian,
which becomes 公婆念.
and ah KiaT is going to share, or rather 公婆念 about this incident at work today.
this guy, who looked sissy though, lived in a condominium at jurong east,
so rich that he don't even want to pay the $30 installation charges,
and shouted screamed ranted at ah KiaT,
hit the table hard and threw ah KiaT's paper around,
and when ah KiaT finally told him nicely that there is no need to throw the paper around,
he said he 忍我很久, and said ah KiaT is very rigid, law by law, no difference from a robot, and ask where he graduated from.
there's the urge to say ah KiaT graduated from Imperial College haha,
but anw just smoked him that ah KiaT already graduated. there's simply no need to reveal personal information.
an idiot customer so to speak,
throwing his own face in front of so many customer at the gallery,
and just like a small boy who finally got his candy after many tries,
he apologised for throwing his tantrum at ah KiaT,
and offered a handshake.
gosh faint,
a guy trying to be funny, or a loser?
u decide...
this show how some people really behave.
sometimes, procedures and protocol really have to be followed.
ah KiaT seen customer service officer who always say sorry to customer even when the customer is in the fault. some even stay silent when foul words were hurled at them.
well, its not being defiant or whatsoever,
but that's not what customer service means to ah KiaT.
the priority is simply to help solve the problem and not to 公婆念...
well, its life experiencing though,
from my 1st work till now, ah KiaT must admit shyly that he can still able to handle difficult customer.
PR skill is definitely important in all parts of life.
什么都可以吃, 除了吃亏...
of course there are exceptions...
apart from the above,
time really flies.
look, its 十一月的萧邦 now...
its school for 2 weeks le.
its really time to pull up the socks.

very very busy month.
really didnt have the time to hit the gym,
and many many people said that ah KiaT contracted.
as in 热长冷烁, is it like that spelling?
ah KiaT grew more thinner :(
ah KiaT is 173cm during sunny days,
rainy days, contracted to 172cm.
Standard Chartered is 1 month away.

must really get there early this year,
and not to have the cramp like what ah KiaT experienced last year...
ah KiaT shared with Fabian & Ben today that,
he always laugh at people, when he see them in the "pushing the tree" position to stretch their calf...
and 没想到 last year ah KiaT did exactly that, to relieve his cramp in the calf.
hahaha karma.
and recently while on the roads,
ah KiaT noticed an increasing number of bikes on the road.
bikes as in road bikes.
and the urge of getting one is really there man...
ah KiaT believes its really a relaxation to ride on the road,
pedal to where you want to go,
you with your wheels, taking you to your destination.
this joy must be as similar to 驾驶,
where you derive the maximum satisfaction!
the utility will never exceed the budget line.
its getting late,

打开窗,
醒了....
its time to start blogging again,
after this long 1 month break.
Apparently,
work and study is really quite taxing and tiring.
U will not have time for alot of activities.
ah KiaT had gone 1 month with gymming,
and being an Ectomorph,
those hard-gain 一点点的马射 has become 一点点的一点点.
cannot understand?
马射 = muscle
一点点的一点点 = ½ X ½ = ¼
it really feels like waking up.
those things that ah KiaT had been slacking,
things that ah KiaT haven been doing,
its time to be back.
其实上班还挺好的.
能够在遥远的一处,
观察人们的言行举止.
observing how the work force is like,
how those management people talks.
talking about converstation,
here is one funny story how it goes...
