從新加坡到香港到珠海到奧門

time really flies.

from months ago when ah KiaT & seeks confirmed the trip,
suddenly, we are on our way!

and now,
so fast ah KiaT is 3 days back already.
and he really missed those times there.

030609

ah KiaT's dad sent us to the airport as our flight was really early.

0640hours, and before long we were on the flight.
it's been many years since ah KiaT last went overseas,
the last being in poly when he went Outward Bound NZ.

doing some last minute research on the plane.
and it proved fruitful as we managed to go for most of the places we planned.
places of interest and nice food!

不知不觉,
3hours plus had gone and we are reaching!

ah KiaT been to Hong Kong airport only,
when he transitted there many years ago.
but this is the 1st time he really step foot into this city.

we got the ez-link card.
opps, its not. it's also not exactly the octopus card as this card enable us unlimited access on the MTR for 3 days + an additional airport express trip.

but actually,
its not really 五华...

beside doing research with seeks prior to the trip,
ah KiaT had the luxury of having important notes about HK,
which are compiled by his sister and her friends.

thanks! they were really helpful.

so, of we go!
to our Dragon Hostel.

we took bus to Mongkok and once we alighted,
we were bit lost as the buildings were similar!
so out come our map and we managed to reach our hostel.

first stop, food!
seeks found this place through her research!
at 旺角广华街翠园大厦 2-20号.

but we ordered too much, as we do not know the actually quantity.
until the next table commented,
"wow, eat so much."

we ordered 8 dishes. haha

the popular mango + sago + pomelo
羊支干鹿

ah KiaT loves 粉肠.

our favourite!
there's braised char siew inside!

finally, off to our destination.
avenue of stars & symphony of lights!

the Wong Kok Station.
but wonders why it is put as Mongkok. haha forget the story behind this.

the nice scenery.

we walked around the area as we need to wait until 2000hrs for the symphony of lights!

haha so funny rite this banner?

the clock tower.

day time

this is when the night starts to sink in.
those view are really majestic,
high rise buildings, colourful lights.
wad a start to a holiday.

however, the symphony of lights is a little overrated.
it was unlike the photos we saw in brochures.
there are only a few buildings which have their lightings changed.
overrated :(

the shopping centres open till late at night, so it was a great idea to spent the remaining night going around the area, enjoying the atmosphere and the surrounding.

040609
another long day ahead, this time round to Lantau Island, Victoria Peak and the Madame Tussauds.
the MTR also give out free newspaper like our very own Today.

the buildings there are like this,
高高瘦瘦的.
heard from people that their area are quite small actually.

their MTR system is pretty similar to our MRT
and its so convenient taking the subway around.

ah KiaT is wondering which stop to alight,
and the answer is below...

off we go, to the cable car.
u can find special rates package there itself.
and seeks even recommend the package to 2 groups of foreigners!
hahaha

we set off early in the morning.
there was a slight drizzle but it stop pretty fast.
but the sky is so misty and foggy.
take a look,

look at these steps!
but its worth the ascend
ah KiaT read that in good weather, you may even get to spot the giant buddha from the flight down to HK.

this is the wisdom path.
with different chinese meanings in them.
ah KiaT didn't pay much attention to these words,
as his interest is captured by the nice mountaineous view around him!

so 1 half of the day is gone.
and we have to travel from one island to another island,
to see the must-see Victoria Peak.

it's highly recommendable to visit it during the late afternoon,
when you can witness both day and night view.

kinda cute isnt it?

take a train to Hong Kong Station

Hong Kong island is like their business district.
u can see many high rise office building,
like the above Citibank!

take the peak tram up to victoria peak
enjoy nice jaws dropping view along the way.

u must be saying wow rite?
if u haven been to Hong Kong,
u must be equally as excited as ah KiaT when u see these.
these photos are taken from seeks canon ixus 70,
and if only we have a SLR,
the images will definitely be much sharper and nicer!

ah KiaT saw his friend's HK photo, taken using a DSLR.
wa 您老实eh,
really like those travel books pictures.

and finally the Madame Tussauds,
where you see celebrities and famous people,
be it in politics, entertainment or sports.

and we cap off the day eating in Mongkok Satay King.
only 2 days, and our legs are numb.
we covered alot of distances on foot, and the feeling of our legs is like completing a marathon.

haha, ah KiaT just finished a marathon and yet have to walk so much.

050609
the 3rd day.
Ocean Park!

take the subway to Admiralty and change to ocean park bus 629.

yes!
ah KiaT took these rides!
for the 1st time, the abyss, which is the tall thingy that goes voom all the way up and down.

the feeling was great really!
haha :)
it was seeks who got ah KiaT to took these rides with her.

the Ocean Park is very big, and we had to take the internal cable from one part to another.
还不错, take 2 rides within a trip!

wad a nice view!
beside these, they have a big aquarium whereby all the fishes, sharks, stingrays, turtles all swam together!

we saw the 2 pandas that China gave HK

we took a bus to stanley market.
it's a great place to shop and bargain. and we had our 1st macdonald meal there.
there's a bus from ocean park direct to stanley market.

Stanley Market is like our very own pasa malam. U have to bargain for the goods,
敢敢殺價!

the Blake Pier at Stanley.
U can get to see alot of nice mountain here,
as well as the 天后宮.

haha, its call 海軍部 in Singapore

中環威靈頓街98號地下
hahaha.
okie la,
its located at Central, Wellington Road
BEST Wanton Mee.
take a look below, anw that's our 3rd official meal there...

we have all heard about nice food in HK.
no doubt, they are all nice though abit pricey, ie SGD5++ for a meal.
their wanton mee is famous for their wanton and their QQ mee.
if u are a prawn lover, u sure love it hell lots!

like what ah KiaT's friends always say,
a life-changing meal.

from our research and information, this place is a MUST-GO.
its directly outside Mongkok MTR.
a big shopping centre and cheap stuff ranging from clothes to bags to shoes.
but then again,
they sell mostly female stuff. u dun really get to bargain there.
hahaha.

060609
the 4th day. Shopping time.

please come here.
yat dim sum @ 九龍旺角運動場道15號京華大廈地下1-2號鋪

isn't it nice?
haha just upload afew food photos here.
for more can take a look at my 臉書

another shopping centre that we went!

u will get to see alot of this in HK.
its a must try else please dun come back to Singapore
the 羊支干鹿!!!
but its from this shop.

許留山
there are alot there! so dun worry if u can't find.
heard that there's one in Singapore but it closed down.
is it?

okie its a famous brand.
Goods Of Desire Delay No More.
the last 3 words sounds explicit in cantonese.
hahaha do u know?
ah KiaT bought a working bag there
and a mahjong 密紀 there!

the traditional chinese characters are so nice isn't it?

times square

this has got to be ah KiaT's favourite meal there!
but alas the 2 of them only order one pot as they are rather full.
very 可系。
we eat the claypot 田雞.
their famous dish i think is the claypot XO something.

okie, 彬抖?
銅鑼灣登龍街12號地下
Tang Lung Street (Near Times Square)
if you go to Hong Kong Island, you must try it!

the map that accompanied us throughout the trip.
our hostel is located near Argyle Street and Tung Choi Street

the nice bubble tea that has small pearl.
slighly less than SGD2.

070609
5th Day. Off to Zhuhai, China

the ferry is around 70minutes and its the most convenient and cheapest way to go from HK to Zhuhai.

Zhuhai is located in China, very near to HK & Macau.
Apparently there's nothing really much to see
but alot alot of things to shop!

our hotel! and the best stay of the trip.
rather big hotel room with coffee table consider the price we paid,
around SGD23 per head per night!!!

this is the underground shopping centre.
3 levels and its real big!
ah KiaT doubt anyone can really finish walking 1 level even in a day.
its really that big.

U can really get cheap things there.
ranging from shirts to pants to shoes and bags.
We always managed to slash the original price of RMB200 to our final price of RMB50.
:)

the place we are staying in is at 連花路.
and its not so safe at night for guys.
Do not walk alone else risking getting approached by 軞眉 scantily clad women.
hahaha.

080609
6th day. Off the Macau

不知不覺, its already our 6th day.
the feeling of coming to the end of our trip really dread us.
Put these feeling aside,
we are off to Macau.

its within walking distance from Zhuhai,
just like Singapore and JB.

these buildings are so nice isnt it?
are the buildings in Portugal something like this?

So european feel like?
Macau is the 1st and last China city to be colonize by European countries.

those photos u see above are found in The Venetian,
the BIGGEST casino!
we only have 1 regret as we can't find the sampan boat to take inside this casino.
argh.

we played jackpot and lost, well for sure isnt it.
the table games seem so alien to us, better dun try wait lose our air tickets back.

the 2nd Casino that we went.
and is because we want to go to Ruins of St Paul.
the famous tourist attraction there.

thanks to the friendly cleaner that explain to us how to get there.
in Macau, we always travel using the free casino bus but of course must be able to get the tickets from the casino for the return trip.
act as gambler.

finally we reached!
nice isnt it?

ah KiaT dun think Singapore's building can be build in these manner.

the famous shop that sell cookies.
ah Kiat bought quite alot here!
their almond cookie is nice.

okie night falls, back to Zhuhai

090609
7th day
last day in Zhuhai

the remaining day were spent shopping

her buys in Zhuhai

his buys for the whole trip.

we still have not finish unpacking our luggage,
and the small gift we got for our friends are still in it.
haha.

Italic
100609
8th day
back to HK

our Hotel in Shanghai Street, Yau Ma Tei
not really a good hotel.
small room. small bed.
ah KiaT's 173cm and his leg can be seen pertruding out of the bed.
and wifi is chargable.

temple street.

the shop owners set up their stall at around 1600hrs.

another recommendation from our list.
a typical 2 level 茶餐廳

油麻地廟街63號地下
Mido Cafe

this is called their baked beef rice. haha
ah KiaT think their dishes have names in english if he never remember wrongly.

their trademark pork rice.
but ah KiaT think the beef one is nicer.

its really a blessing.
we heard that there's yet another case of fluids being thrown from heights in Mongkok, the street that we always walked.

we were lucky as we were in Zhuhai then.
otherwise we are 100% sure we will walk down that street again.

Mak Man Kee Noodle Shop in Jordan
佐敦白加士街51號地下
Parkes Street, Jordan

yummy!

no coupon parking.
traditional coin inserts.

so fast. the final night.
heavy feelings were felt. these 8 days went past just like a blink of the eye.
we are in holiday mood,
doesn't want to come back, back to what we do everyday,
back to having to make decisions in life,
so many uncertainties.
haha, we are in our comfort zone.

110609
9th day.
FINAL day of the trip

it rained for the 1st time in our trip!
we lucky to have good weather throughout the trip.
all our plans went smoothly without the need to activate contingency.

haha seeks got to use her newly-bought umbrella!

this is at Soy Street 豆油街84號

we ate 梅菜肉餅飯 and 北菇滑雞飯 and lemon tea.

we even have time to visit bookstore to browse some books!

they have alot of exotic animals in this goldfish street!
if only we can bring them back as pets. haha

they say come HK must always try their roasted delights.
and especially the 燒鵝!

can't really describe the taste. but its very nice,
especially u mix it with the honey provided.
haha it taste abit like duck heh.
您老实, maybe they give me duck. haha

forget exactly the address of this,
but its somewhere near Mongkok area, which is very big.
hahaha

time to go back...

the only good point of the Dorsett Seaview Hotel is that they have free shuttle bus for us to take to Kowloon MTR Station,
where we can take the airport express train.

our flight was slightly delayed.

must put on our mask selamat for health and safety reasons.
its troublesome if anyone caught the H1N1 flu.

ah KiaT like this shot!
the planes fly so low here...

guess how heavy are our luggages?

we spent alot of time packing our luggage so as not to exceed the 40KG limit.
we did it by overloading our hand-carry luggage. hahaha.

goodbye HK.

it was a nice trip!
a chance to have great sight seeing and shop like mad.
now it's back to reality and ah KiaT has to start saving up for the next trip.

HK is easy to get around.
Communication is easy though its a bonus if you know Cantonese.
it wun be any soon before ah KiaT go back to this city again,
which perhaps explains why he is still missing the days there.

哈亞站,maybe 台灣
but ah KiaT wanna learn diving too.
haha.
and the need for job hunting.

take care my friends.
:):):)
